The J.Cotter Studio is Hiring an apprentice! J. Cotter Gallery in Vail, Colorado is seeking an apprentice for its Minturn studio. The studio is a full-scale in-house jewelry shop that specializes in handmade custom work and creates one-of-a-kind jewelry for the Vail Gallery. We are looking for a candidate who has: A strong desire to learn and grow as a jeweler and metalsmith Entry-level bench/metalwork skills Problem-solving capabilities Good communication skills Basic computer knowledge The program will primarily focus on the growth and education of the apprentice through practical hands-on experience while working alongside owner Jim Cotter and studio manager Quinn Davis. There will also be opportunities to learn and explore different aspects of the trade depending on the individual's interests. These areas could include wax carving, metal fabrication, stone setting, sculptural work, gallery sales, or social media marketing. The individual will also be assisting with casting, finishing jewelry, polishing, and daily studio operations. J. Cotter Gallery has been located in the Vail Valley since 1970. The gallery primarily features Cotters work but is accompanied by various other contemporary jewelers and artists. J. Cotter Studio designs and builds Jim Cotters jewelry and artwork using a range of techniques with a focus on lost wax casting using a centrifugal casting machine.
