Job Description

Company Description

Afficiency is a rapidly growing Insurtech startup whose mission is to provide life insurance to everyone on the platforms they already trust. Located in NYC, we design life insurance products that can be purchased entirely digitally and can be easily embedded into distribution platforms or with agents who sell insurance. The company is experiencing exponential growth and is well-funded. We are looking for new team members to join us on our journey to shake up the life insurance industry. We need individuals who bring passion, curiosity, and a desire for excellence.

We are seeking a self-starter; a proactive and self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and can independently initiate and drive projects to completion.

Job Description

We are looking for experienced life insurance BAs, keen to grow their skills and stretch in new directions, in an insurtech environment working rapidly to reinvent the way life insurance is deployed. Strong experience and aptitude with generating lengthy and detailed project artifacts is a must. You will work under the supervision of our Project Managers and subject matter experts, but have the opportunity to own your work and grow into additional responsibilities. Our projects require coordination and working between our life insurance carriers, distributors, and technology partners.

Qualifications

  • Drafting detailed requirements documentation for all aspects of the digital life insurance sales process, including UX journeys, product specifications, point of sale controls, underwriting and forms, working with SMEs and Project Managers.
  • Working with a range of project artifacts including BRDs, FRDs, process maps, workflow diagrams, data mapping spreadsheets, etc., to capture all detail necessary for the implementation of client builds.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, review documentation, make edits in real-time and asynchronously, manage version control, signoffs and implementation.
  • Support testing and signoff – act as requirements SME to QA and UAT teams (you know the requirements, you will be the first port of call for explaining ‘how it should work’)
  • Collaborate with internal project team to identify and deliver steps to translate requirements to build implementation
  • Collaborate on test plan designs and execution
  • Represent Afficiency with our business partners, delivering a professional and
smooth experience through an often-fast paced development cycle

Must Have

  • 2-5 years of experience as a business analyst/associate in a life insurance or insurtech function
  • Demonstrable experience in drafting and maintaining BRDs, FRDs, process maps, workflow diagrams and similar
  • Experience in start-ups, consulting, or similar fast-paced, self-starter environment a plus
  • Experience / comfortable with both industry *and* technical worlds - willingness to talk UX, APIs, and platforms. We’re not looking for a pure IT BA, you don’t have to be a coder, but be prepared to work around them!
  • Ability to quickly embrace change and adapt effectively in response.
  • Organized, detailed oriented, and able to prioritize and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams, using email, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint (or Google-equivalent Applications).
