The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) is excited to offer and announce a competitive opportunity to serve as a part-time Administrative Assistant in our Central Office Traffic Operations Program Management Office.
The selected candidate will provide administrative and technical support to the manager, work group, section and facility. Coordinate workflow processes. Communicate with internal and external contacts. Maintain current knowledge of related policies, procedures and practices. with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365. The successful candidate will assist in the Traffic Operations Business Office with business support functions such as budget and finance tracking, purchase order creation, expense report preparation, invoice processing, and other diverse administrative and support duties as assigned. This position will be part of a team of business professionals that collaborate in many business functional areas within the Traffic Operations program, and in support of VDOT's mission and values. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, and a positive minded team player with the ability to work independently. This position is an Hourly/Wage position. Hourly(wage) positions may not work more than an average of 29 hours per week and cannot exceed 1500 hours during the wage employment year (May1-April 30. This position does not include health insurance, retirement or leave benefits.Minimum Qualifications
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include Microsoft Office.
• Experience applying executive administrative practices.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Experience applying office business practices and principles.
• Ability to compile, coordinate and prepare reports.
• Skill in filing and document management.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues appropriately.
• Skill in providing and promoting good customer service to internal and external customers.
Additional Considerations
• Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
• Ability to work independently.
• A combination of training, experience, or education in General office Practices, Procedures
or related field desired.
