Job Description
Summary: Responsible for maintaining the laboratory for the facility and providing chemistry and process tank chemical expertise and advice to the chemical processing teams.Performs wet chemistry to troubleshoot problems in the production areas related to tank chemistry, paint failure, or other process failures.Also performs required testing such as Salt Spray, Electrical Resistivity, Surface Verification, etc.Acquire data via pH/TDS meters, maintains and issues test panels to production and paint personnel, and other laboratory duties in accordance with instructions given by the General Manager or by a qualified trainer under direct supervision.
Responsibilities: * Daily Laboratory management and process and procedure realization.
* Handle and transport hazardous waste in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
* pH/TDS Meter set up and operation.
* Interpret applicable specifications both customer imposed and in-house, for each type of testing being performed.
* Perform various testing such as Adhesion, Salt Spray, Electrical Resistivity, Surface Verification, etc.
* Maintain stock of various calibration data base items, checking for worn or expiring items and replacing them with properly calibrated items.
* Making purchase requisitions for test panels and calibration data base items.
* Reading and understanding work order requirements.
* Able to identify parts with digital pictures.
* Maintain test panel stock and organization of test panel cabinet.
* Issue test panels as needed for production and monthly testing needs.
* Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas.
* Adhere to all safety requirements and assist with the enforcement compliance.
* Handles customer supplied product with care.
* Responds quickly to inquiries and follows up as needed.
* Embraces change to ensure overall success of the company.
* Must wear any/all PPE including protective gloves and boots, as well as chemical resistant suits and respirators as required.
Qualifications: * Must have excellent verbal, written and listening skills and have the ability to provide written and verbal instructions and present information clearly
* Must be able to pass basic skills assessment for Microsoft Excel and also demonstrate basic skills with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
* Must demonstrate the ability to understand and work with basic mathematical concepts
* Must have the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
* Must be able to pay attention to detail.
* Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
* Must be able to capture and assimilate information quickly.
* Must have the ability and willingness to work extended hours and overtime, including weekends, as required by the work schedule and production needs
