JOB DESCRIPTION.

Second Baptist School (SBS) is seeking a full-time CHORAL AND THEATRE ACCOMPANIST for the 2024-2025 school year.

• Position Title: Choral and Theatre Accompanist
• Reports To: Director of Arts
• Work Calendar: Ten Months (August-May)
• Work Hours: 7:30 AM - 4 PM, with evenings as needed for rehearsals, concerts, and drama/musical performances

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED.

To perform this job successfully, candidates must:

• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• Meet professional education requirements of SBS.
• Be able to read music fluently, with proficiency in piano.
• Have experience and skill in choral direction and musical theatre.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES.

Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to:

• Accompanist for:
  • Daily middle and upper school choral classes.
  • Fall Choir, Spring Choir, and Festival of Christmas rehearsals and concerts.
  • Seasonal (including evenings) rehearsals and performances for the upper school fall drama and spring musical.
• Attendance at:
  • Select honors theatre classes for the purpose of vocal rehearsals.
• Conduct and/or play for the upper school musical performances and rehearsals.

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Strong experience and skill in piano accompaniment, choral direction and musical theatre.
• Proficiency in technology, including Google Workspace.
• A desire to be a dedicated and loyal team member supporting all school-level activities and school-wide initiatives.
• A desire to build relationships and promote a culture that reflects the school's mission and values.
• Responsible stewardship of the school's resources and willingness to make a personal commitment to support the school's fundraising efforts as able.

Prior knowledge of Second Baptist Church and School is considered a plus. Second Baptist School
