Under the direction and supervision of the Study Manager, this position serves as Clinical Research Coordinators (CRC) for various research studies within the Department of Public Health Sciences. Studies may include but are not limited to the Childhood Autism Risks from Genetics and the Environment Study (CHARGE), Markers of Autism Risk in Babies - Learning Early Signs (MAEBLES), and the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO). The CHARGE study involves the evaluation of California children ages 2-5diagnosed with autism, developmental delay, or were randomly selected from the general population. MARBLES has previously enrolled pregnant mothers who have an older child with autism and follows the new baby siblings at various follow-up study appointments over several years. The ECHO Program enrolls parents and children and completes data collection over several years at various time points. CHARGE, MARBLES, and ECHO are all funded by the National Institutes of Health. Following study protocols and strictly adhering to IRB and HIPAA regulations, the incumbent will contribute to various research tasks such as recruitment, data collection, and data entry. This work will also include coordinating and facilitating research subjects' participation in clinical activities, which involves in-person visits at the UC Davis MIND Institute or at participant homes, or remote study visits. Required is the use of skills to work independently or with general direction, coordinate and follow through in the overall administration and outcome of clinical studies investigating risk for autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. This position requires written and oral fluency in Spanish and English. Demonstrated experience in the execution of human research protocols. Experience with database programs and computer skills for the effective management of research data. Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate in Spanish and English with sensitivity and discretion to parents of children with developmental disabilities and experience working with children who have developmental disabilities. Knowledge of IRB Administration policies and procedures and HIPAA regulations. Administrative skills and ability to exercise good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness in making decisions. Knowledge and skill to establish appropriate work standards to achieve the highest productivity and accuracy. Knowledge of autism-related services and community supports. Excellent organizational skills to schedule approximately 30 study visits each month and independently coordinate 2-3 visits per week. Demonstrated knowledge of the study objectives, procedures and policies desired. Demonstrated ability to maintain positive and cooperative attitude even during unexpected schedule or priority changes, and retain interpersonal effectiveness. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to handle biohazard samples (blood, urine, saliva, hair). Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision, following study protocol. Ability to prioritize tasks and assignments based on the needs of the research team and the research participants, seeking input from the Project Manager or Clinic Director when needed.
