Typical Duties or Tasks
Design data models and data architecture, data governance
- Strong skills in SQL and data modeling
- Must be a creative thinker and self-starter, able to identify solutions and quickly prototype proof of concept. Expected to quickly understand and embrace new technologies
- Build deep expertise in the data and its meaning as it applies to business processes
- Strong inclination towards managing data with outlook on how to improve data quality, metadata management and data velocity
- Design and architect data solutions with Business intelligence and reporting in mind
- Architect DW/data-marts with industry best practices
- Analyze source data both from a technical and business perspective
Architect Information Systems and data delivery processes
- Build strong knowledge of business data flow and data distribution
- Develop logical data flow maps required for business analytics
- Evaluate and recommend best practices for data collection, quality and distribution
- Design and develop end to end information delivery process
- Understand business data needs and convert to technical specifications
- In-depth understanding of all critical business applications and its underlying data model/distribution
- Ability to recommend Business Value Drivers and KPIs needed by various business units for strategic, operational and predictive use cases
- Design and architect system integration process needed for business analytics
- Define optimum joins between tables based on the functional requirement
Design and architect information solution
- Strong knowledge of SQL and SQL queries:
- Hands on experience with complex SQL and high-volume Relational databases and SQL Query performance
- Experience in replication, data warehouse and scalability - load balancing
- Experience to setup database alerts, maintenance plans and scripts
- Working knowledge on AZURE Databases including SQL AZURE, AZURE Data Warehouse, AZURE Data lake
- Ability to design data models based on functional data/business requirements
- Convert business requirement to end-to-end data flow, data model as part of the high level design
- Apply sufficient business process knowledge to source system data to bring them into the logical datawarehosuse
- Built optimal data model with ease of access and heaving performance in mind
- Strong knowledge on various data modelling strategies
- Working closely with Business stakeholders to gather pain points build and/or extend the data model.
- Supervise Data and Information test cases, resolve defects within BI tools
- Strong knowledge of Informatica PowerCenter ETL tool
- Perform unit testing of ETLs and related components and document test results.
- Experience with reading and loading high-volume Type 2 dimensions (Slowly Changing Dimensions) in Multi-Dimensional Datamarts (Star Schema)
- Create Unit Test Documentation (Test Cases, Test Scripts and Test Results)
- Experience working as a hands-on MS SQL Server 2005/2008/2012/2014 Database Administrator. DB and Oracle
- Determine and recommend enhancements to the BIDW for performance improvement
Experience with advising and working with BI and advanced analytics technologies
- Experience with the best of breed traditional enterprise Business Intelligence tools such as
- BusinessObjects
- Cognos
- Microsoft Reporting Services
- Experience with best of breed high performance analytics tools such as:
- SAS
- KNIME
- Cloudera Analytics
- Rapidminer
- Experience with statistical programming languages:
- Experience with ETL tools such as:
- Flume
- Informatica PowerCenter
- MS Integration Services (SSIS)
- Experience with best in breed analytics platforms such as:
- MS Analytics Platform (APS)
- Hadoop (Hive and HBase)
- Windows AZURE platform
- SAP HANA
- Experience with Data Visualization tools such as:
- Tableau
- Qlikview
- SAP Lumira
- TIBCO Spotfire
Effective Business process translation and knowledge.
- Managing the demand for new solutions against employee capacity.
- Knowledge on Railroad operational, maintenance, finance, sales and marketing.
- Basic IT Database and BI assets (data) and software (licenses, etc.) knowledge ensuring currency and compliance.
- Working closely with business leaders to assist in BI Technology roadmap, Proof of Concepts, Proot of Technolody
