Furniture Repair Technician
Reports To: Warehouse Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary
Drives a company vehicle to customer's homes to perform repairs and/or assess needed repairs. Works with the warehouse team to prep and repair home furnishing products. Uses their carpentry, upholstery, leather and color matching skills to provide the best product to our customer.

Direct reporting to and supervision from the Warehouse Manager and/or the Assistant Warehouse Manager if applicable).

Essential Functions
* Driving a company vehicle to customer's homes observing all traffic laws;
* Follow directed route to insure on time arrival for the customer;
* Use effective communication skills and a professional demeanor with customers;
* Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle daily and perform daily safety inspection;
* Inspecting vehicle equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water to insure proper maintenance of the vehicle;
* Perform routine or simple maintenance on the vehicle as well as its tools and supplies;
* Maintaining vehicle log according to state and federal regulations;
* Following safety guidelines and reports any unsafe happening or concern to Warehouse Manager immediately;
* Inspecting the merchandise for reported damage or defects;
* Repairs, replaces or adjusts damaged home furnishings pieces with tools and chemicals;
* Mixes and blends wood pigments to match original finish;
* Removes furniture finishes by using applicable chemicals and/or standing;
* Paints, glazes and/or refinishes home furnishing pieces to original vendor specifications;
* Cleans stained or soiled home furnishing pieces;
* Repairs upholstery;
* Assist with inventory maintenance, preparation and support;
* Assists the shop technician with repairs as needed and available;
* Accurately completes all appropriate and required paperwork;
* Ensures quality and timely completion of projects and work;
* Keeping the vehicle and workspace in homes and warehouse clean and free of all safety hazards;
* Arrives to work according to schedule timely and consistently;
* Projects a positive company image and adheres to Bassett's Vision and Values
* Performing other related duties or special projects as assigned.
Required Education/Experience/Abilities/Skills
* High School diploma or GED equivalency certificate;
* Valid driver's license and a maintained clear driving record;
* Commitment to Bassett's Vision and Values at all times;
* Minimum of 1 year cabinet carpentry, upholstery an leather experience;
* Artistic and color matching skills a plus;
* Flexibility in work schedule; days/weekends;
* Strong organizational skills;
* Ability to:
* Safely drive a company owned service van;
* Navigate through the service area to customer homes;
* To use workroom tools and assemble furniture;
* Work in an independent, organized and safety conscious manner;
* Knowledge of how to use a wireless tablet, ipad or other company system driven device;
* Work harmoniously and effectively as a team with an enthusiastic attitude;
* Effectively communicate with customer's, co-workers and management;
* Read, understand and write the English language;
* Lift and move products weighing up to 70 pounds without a lifting device
* Lift and move products in excess of 70 pounds with an approved lifting device;
* Walk, stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, use and/or control tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear, and see up close, in color, depth and distance vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
