Job Description

Position: Graphic Designer Reports To: Manager of Creative Art & Design Compensation: $24.04 - $26.44 per hour Position Summary: Great entry level opportunity for someone pursuing a career in design to gain design experience and build their portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Creative Design & Exhibits this role will produce high quality designs that are consistent with LLPA’s style guide on time and under demanding deadlines. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, professional, highly responsive, and able to work in multiple media formats. Qualifications : Senior level college students pursuing graphic design or a related degree or recent graduates actively pursuing a career in graphic design Related work experience may be accepted in lieu of education or a degree Critical Skills/Competencies: Experience in the aquarium, zoo, or museum industry is a plus Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator. Well versed in the principles and elements of design Understanding of typographic principles Sharp attention to detail and organization skills Ability to follow art direction Must be flexible and adaptable Must work effectively under pressure and with a sense of urgency Ability to track and complete multiple tasks and projects through various stages of development and implementation with comfort in exercising persistence as needed Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to be extremely effective independently Self-starter with a can-do attitude Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with the Director of Creative Design & Exhibits and the Creative team Assist in a broad range of design tasks including, but not limited to, photo retouching, concept design, illustration, layout, and typography Develop creative design concepts that meet the objectives of the organization and promote the mission of LLPA Create designs for both digital and print-based graphics Review designs for errors Scope of Position: Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.
