Job Description
Job Title: Laser Welder Technician I Reports to: Production Manager Purpose of Position: The Laser Welder Technician I is responsible for assembling metal components in a production environment through the operation of laser beam welding machines. Experience is preferred but not required in the operation of CNC machines and TIG welding processes. The technician may also be responsible for operating other CNC production equipment within the EDM department.
Experience Required: •0-3 years of experience in job shop or manufacturing.
•Preferred experience in laser welding, micro-welding, electron beam welding or a combination of CNC machine operations
and TIG welding.
•Experience setting up and running CNC machines or mechanical skills is preferred .
•Excellent time management skills.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Ability to work both as a team and individually.
•Flexibility to work occasional overtime.
•Must be physically capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping.
Description of Job Duties: •Select proper programs and fixtures based on engineer call out
•Read and understand blueprints and production control documents
•Perform prescribed maintenance as required such as lens cleaning, mode alignments, and maintaining workstation
cleanliness.
•Perform 1st and 2nd piece inspections including dimensional inspections such as Total Indicator Run-out, or TIR.
•Knowledge and use of measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers and dial indicators.
•Ability to log information about a job both manually (written) and electronically.
•Think critically to identify and troubleshoot issues at the laser to ensure the job runs correctly.
•Work closely with the Engineering team.
•Adhere to continuous improvement processes.
•Must be open to cross-training on new equipment.
•Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
•Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and other departments.
•Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
