Job Description: The database performance engineer is responsible for setting up database performance monitoring across various database in the org including structured and unstructured databases.
- Analyze all the applicable database performance monitoring tool that’s available for workload, throughput, resources, optimization, and contention in the market and pick the right one fits our environment and approved by the security team
- Understand our application and platform use cases thoroughly before making the selection of the database performance monitoring tool.
- If non-available in the market that satisfies the requirement of performance monitoring our databases, then come up with a plan to build one in-house with approved tools.
- Set best practices for database performance engineering and monitoring for all the database in the org
- Set thresholds and alerting based on the various performance metrics and document the corresponding actions in detail for the rest of the team to follow.
- Set anomaly detection in all the databases, which might cause abrupt performance impact in production and detail the steps the resolve the same.
- Once have everything in place , start training the DBA’s and other data engineers in the team to use the third-party tool or the custom-built tool in detail.
- Once the DBA’s and data engineers are fully trained, shadow support the team for minimum 3 months to complete the full transition of this role to the existing team.
Required Skills and Experience:
• At least 6+ years of experience in database performance tuning on PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle & Couchbase.
• Skills: In depth database (MySQL, Postgres) experience on workload, throughput, resources, optimization, and contention.
• Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to chase down complex issues. Anomaly detection techniques
• Passion: A genuine interest in solving challenging performance problems.
Salary: $125,000/year to $135,000/year.
