SUMMARY

Performs professional psychiatric services in the evaluation and management of medications for clients. Participates as part of the CCBHC treatment team in the development of client treatment plans by providing diagnostic and treatment recommendations. Provides consultation to clinical staff regarding psychiatric conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Adheres to agency policy and procedures, CARF and DMHSAS standards and criteria, federal and state confidentiality rules and regulations, and any special funding source requirements.
  2. Supports and promotes a service environment for individuals in need of behavioral health and/or co-occurring services that are recovery focused, welcoming, and attentive to the needs of individuals who may have experienced trauma in their lives. Attends annual core competencies training in relationship to individuals with co-occurring disorders or who have experienced trauma in their lives.
  3. Provides direct supervision to physician assistant and/or nurse practitioner within medication clinic prescriptive practices and psychiatric evaluations.
  4. Monitors eligibility status and makes application for eligible clients for Social Security, Title XIX or HMO (Medicaid), QMB, and other benefits for which the client may qualify.
  5. Provides psychiatric evaluations, crisis intervention, and pre-hospital screening for clients and non-clients.
  6. Elicits and records information about client's medical/mental health and/or substance use history.
  7. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination and determines appropriate diagnosis.
  8. Orders or executes various tests, analysis, and diagnostic images to provide information on client's condition.
  9. Provides medication clinic services to clients of the agency and prescribes medications in accordance with CCBHC standards.
  10. Provides education and guidance to clients and families concerning proper usage and reactions associated with medications prescribed as well as diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease as it pertains to CCBHC guidelines.
  11. Provides clinical consultation to ensure appropriate diagnosis and course of treatment.
  12. Establishes rapport with clients, assessing client needs; organizes, plans, and delivers face-to-face client services; and conducts follow-up on the outcome of services provided.
  13. Provides clinical assessments, evaluations, treatment plans, crisis intervention, and referrals for clients.
  14. May be required to provide on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency consultation.
  15. May be required to work evening or weekend hours.
  16. Interacts with other professionals to discuss therapy or treatment, new resources or techniques, and to share information.
  17. Reports and documents services in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
  18. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Board Certified or Board Eligible, Licensed Psychiatrist in Oklahoma; or

Oklahoma Licensed MD/DO with experience in community based mental health; or

A Licensed MD/DO in psychiatric residency.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Licensed Psychiatrist or MD/DO in Oklahoma

Required to complete Therapeutic Options or approved safety training and annual updates.
