Job Description

The successful candidate will be prepared to contribute to teaching courses in the undergraduate psychology program related to clinical psychology. The successful candidate will be prepared to advise undergraduates and mentor undergraduates in research. Candidates should be prepared to actively engage in scholarship and service to the university, community, and discipline.

Responsibilities

  • A typical faculty workload includes up to twenty-four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.

  • The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.

  • Faculty may be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university?s additional locations, as assigned.

  • The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and develop external funding.

  • All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).

  • This position will advise undergraduate majors.

  • Teach courses related to mental health in the undergraduate psychology program. Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

    • Abnormal Psychology (Psychopathology)

    • Health Psychology

    • Child and/or Adolescent Psychology

  • Teach undergraduate service-related courses which may include Introductory Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods.

  • Engage in activities related to mental health outreach both on campus and in the community.

  • Advise and mentor research of undergraduate students.

  • Participate in Psychology Department activities.

  • Involvement in service to the university and community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PhD, PsyD), Counseling Psychology (PhD, PsyD), or a related mental health discipline (e.g., health psychology) requiring the provision of clinical/counseling services as part of training. If ABD, degree must be completed by August 18, 2025 and transcript with terminal degree received by September 30, 2025.

  • Documentation of teaching success at a college or university level.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse student population in teaching, advising, and/or research, including experience with pedagogy that addresses diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

  • Preparation for teaching in areas of specialization and competence (examples could include Psychopathology/Abnormal Psychology, Health Psychology, Child and/or Adolescent Psychology, Psychology of Aging).

  • Post-doctoral clinical experience.

  • License or certification eligible in the state of Minnesota.

  • Ability to foster relationships with community organizations that provide mental health services.

  • Demonstrated potential for research productivity and willingness to involve undergraduate students in research.

  • Potential to secure external funding for research.

  • Experience advising undergraduate students.

  • Experience with using technology to support teaching.
