Description
This is a full-time, direct placement role at C. I. Services, Inc. Position Purpose and Objectives A roofing estimator/salesperson is responsible for estimating and selling roofing and waterproofing projects.
- Ability to complete the proper inspection based on the evaluation of the project (repair, maintenance, re-roof, restoration, waterproofing, etc.)
- Prepare accurate, timely estimates for potential jobs based on expertise
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with your assigned customers
- Ensure customer satisfaction, profitability and future process improvements
Specific Duties, Functions and Responsibilities Estimating: - Understanding of most common roof types (commercial & some residential)
- Use expertise and correct forms to prepare accurate and competitive estimates
- Review and understand scope of work and project specifications
- Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized budgets
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost effectiveness
- Seek to constantly gain knowledge and improve ability to estimate all company products and systems
- Ability to prepare a written proposal and deliver to our customer which outlines options (if applicable) to address and solve their problems
- Prepare accurate drawings showing detail of important aspects of the project
- Use established labor and material markups for overhead and profit
- Interface with individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates
- Develop and maintain relationships with manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and customers to strategically provide accurate options and estimates
- Provide improvement recommendations to cost-estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs
Sales Responsibilities: - Be responsive to the needs of existing and potential customers
- Follow up on outstanding proposals and document feedback from customer.
- Using our company database, performs all necessary customer and company follow-up as per company guidelines and ensures all follow-up correspondence is up-to-date and accurate
- Can follow-up properly on company-generated customer leads, and shows ability to generate their own leads (when directed)
- Organize product information, shop drawings and samples for submittals
- Provide complete and accurate Sold Job Notifications to ensure job packets are prepared timely and accurately
- Assist the production department in scheduling and coordinating jobs (if applicable)
- Confer with building owners / managers, direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors in interpreting specifications or blueprints, and coordinate various phases of construction to meet project and customer requirements and prevent delays
- Act as project manager on your jobs if and when required
- Ensure your job is completed as proposed and deliver manufacturer warranties to customers as needed
- Document customer feedback in job files
- Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine reasons for discrepancies
- Maintain accurate, complete and organized files
- Maintain job communication for change-order management with office staff
- Perform final walk-through with owner or building manager
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Work Skills - Estimators must exhibit technical skills necessary to estimate and sell projects
- Effective communication -Ability to convey information, concepts and concerns to people in different departments
- Language skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret:
- Inspection forms
- Estimating forms
- Proposal formats
- Oral communication - Speak in a clear and professional manner
- Written communication - Able to read and interpret written information
- Ability to evaluate and choose the correct proposal format
- Math - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as:
- Budgets
- Labor hours versus man days
- Profit margins
- Technology - Ability to use smart phones, tablets and other technology tools; knowledge of and ability to use the following software applications:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint (as needed)
Roofing and waterproofing system knowledge - Knowledge of various roofing and waterproofing systems, materials, construction processes and theories; ability to design a roofing or waterproofing system; desire to stay abreast of codes and other necessary information
Project management - Coordinate projects, communicate changes and monitor progress
Roofing and waterproofing system installation - Understanding of roofing and waterproofing system installation methods
Safety and security - Ability to identify, correct and report unsafe conditions according to company and OSHA standards:
- Review and understanding of our company IIPP and other safety documentation as outlined in the company orientation.
Quality - Knowledge to inspect and ensure attention to detail and quality per proposed and sold work.
Productivity - Demonstrate the ability to meet and exceed productivity standards
Budgeting - Ability to understand implications of change orders and loss/gain production on job budgets
Relational Interaction - Estimator/Salesperson must be able to thrive in a dynamic, interactive company environment as well as develop and maintain professional customer relationships outside the company
- Positive attitude and support of company policies, programs and goals
- Assist in the planning and execution of successful trade show appearances
Problem solving - Understand complex problems and work with the team in problem resolution to ensure decisions are made to benefit the company as much as possible.
Leadership, Management and Teamwork - Estimator/Salesperson must be able to work well with others within and outside of the company such as customers, vendors, manufacturers, suppliers and distributors.
Time Management - Ability to juggle schedules, details and outcomes; prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently.
Salary Description
$65,000 - $85,000
