Job Title: Senior Accountant / Bookkeeper

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all accounting-related procedures and functions, including all payroll, banking, accounts payable, accounts receivable and daily operations of the accounting department. The Senior Accountant participates in the management and reporting of company projects. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting of all construction projects.

The Senior Accountant’s principal duties are to perform all required bookkeeping functions in a timely and accurate manner. The Senior Accountant provides reports and schedules to the Company’s CPA in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, tax filings, and maintenance of licenses and permits.

Exemplary List of Duties

• Accurate and timely preparation of payroll, making and recording all required payroll tax deposits, and 401(k) deposits.
• Accumulate job cost data from weekly payroll reports, materials and subcontract billings to prepare cost reports for each project.
• Maintain all operating, payroll, savings and investment banking accounts, including deposits, disbursements, and account balancing.
• Manage company credit cards.
• Monitor daily cash balances in bank accounts to cover obligations.
• Prepare monthly cash account reconciliations and trial balance reports.
• Prepare and post all monthly AIA invoices.
• Process and issue all accounts payable.
• Accrue, prepare and remit state and county taxes.
• Monthly reporting of Worker’s Compensation and General Liability insurance.
• Generate monthly union benefit contribution reports,
• Perform fiscal year-end accounting close-outs with CPA.
• Coordinate year-end W-2s and 1099 forms preparation, distribution and filing with appropriate agencies.
• Maintain all accounting files and records according to record retention policies.
• Maintain the system of internal accounting controls and financial reporting.
• Maintain state registrations, business and tax licenses.

Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor of Science in Accounting or equivalent.
2. Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in construction accounting
3. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software including Excel and Word
4. Construction Accounting Software Experience – Foundation preferred
5. Knowledge of AIA contracts, change orders, payment application forms

Knowledge, Competencies, Skills, and Abilities :

1. Have a complete and thorough knowledge of all accounting functions and procedures.
2. Knowledge of construction contracts, payment application processes, construction budgeting
3. Must be highly organized, resilient, able to meet deadlines, and multi-task
4. Excellent communication skills - must have command of written and spoken English; Spanish a plus

Classification:

Exempt / Salaried

This is a full-time position; typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. although flexibility in hours is required.

Salary range :

$85,000 - $100,000/ year
