Salal Credit Union is looking to add a new Senior Portfolio Manager (Commercial Loan Underwriter) to our Credit Administration team. This Senior Portfolio Manager will be responsible for the review and analysis of credit and applicant information to evaluate commercial loan requests. Within the approval authority limit, the Senior Portfolio Manager will approve loan requests. Another major duty of this role is to ensure data integrity and stability of the portfolio by conducting annual reviews of existing loans. This role can be performed in a fully remote capacity from any state in which we have established hiring. Business hours dictate a preference for those able to work on Pacific Time hours. In this role you will: Review customer applications and loan packages to help structure transactions in a manner that allows the Credit Union to lend within its policies, while minimizing credit risk. Compose credit requests for approval in narrative format. Work/communicate with the loan production team to collect needed credit request information, ongoing reporting information, and updates on loans/relationships. Communicate directly with clientele in a professional manner, building rapport via phone, email, and in-person conversations. Research, review, analyze, and approve appraisals as necessary. Assist with loan portfolio monitoring, including annual term loan reviews, asset quality rating upgrades or downgrades, and credit modifications for changes to loan member status. Complete business financial spreads and personal cash flow spreads, surfacing risk as appropriate. Provide proactive loan status updates and communicate to members or other interested parties; resolve discrepancies and problems to minimize turn time while thoroughly documenting credit requests; provide periodic reports and ensure quality member service throughout the loan process. Help with workouts, modifications, and problem credits when appropriate. Our ideal candidate would have: 5+ years of experience underwriting commercial lending. A strong understanding of commercial banking terms and definitions, including analyzing C&I and CRE deals. Strong credit acumen, including auditing, math, and financial analysis aptitude. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, quality, quantity and timeliness of work. Compensation and Benefits Offered: Competitive base salary of $96,975 - $135,765 per year depending on experience. This range reflects the entire salary range for the position. The target salary rate that is likely to be offered to the selected candidate is between $110,000-122,000 per year.
