POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
Moss' Solar Assistant Project Manager, Early-Stage works with Owners, Engineers, Vendors and internal departments, such as Legal, Risk, Finance, Operations, Business Development, Estimating, Engineering Management, Procurement, and Self Perform to manage project preconstruction efforts following project award. The Assistant Project Manager is accountable for leading client relationships on the projects and overseeing a Project Engineering team responsible for managing project preconstruction activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with clients to understand their goals, objectives, and project requirements
Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the preconstruction phase, addressing concerns, providing regular project updates, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle
Proactively engage with clients to discuss contract terms, scope changes, and any potential modifications to project deliverables
Collaborate with clients to identify opportunities for additional services and deliver added value to enhance the overall project experience
Lead and manage a project management team responsible for overseeing day-to-day project preconstruction activities
Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the project management team, fostering professional development and encouraging a culture of excellence
Monitor individual and team performance, provide constructive feedback, and implement strategies and processes for continuous improvement
Oversee and guide the project management team in the execution of preconstruction activities, including schedule development, change management, budget tracking, and design kickoff and coordination
Perform cash flow analysis while considering construction schedule, material deposits, early works, and general conditions
Facilitate owner coordination efforts, establish effective communication between stakeholders to ensure project objectives are aligned
Manage site due diligence activities, working closely with the team to address potential challenges and mitigate risks early in the project lifecycle
Coordinate with Engineering on deliverables, document review, Drawing Log, geotechnical / testing requirements for Due Diligence, Owner coordination meetings, etc. to ensure schedule, budget and contract requirements are met
Lead permitting process during preconstruction while coordinating with Engineering and Operations; hand off permitting to Operations Project Management once project team is assigned
Manage Preconstruction RFI Log until Owner EPC Agreement is finalized; hand off RFI process to Operations Project Management once preconstruction is complete
Lead procurement coordination efforts, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure timely acquisition of necessary resources and materials
Review and negotiate contracts, including Owner Limited Notices to Proceed (LNTPs), ensuring terms and conditions are favorable and align with project goals
Effectively communicate project status, updates, and risks to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders
Lead regular project review meetings, facilitating transparent discussions on project progress, challenges, and potential solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive successful project outcomes and maintain a high level of client satisfaction
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, technical business or related discipline. MBA is a strong plus
Minimum 5+ years' experience in the Solar/EPC Construction industry
Relocation to South Florida is preferred to best lead teams and coordinate with cross-functional teams
Basic industry knowledge on technical aspects, such as design, performance modeling, and construction, of utility scale solar power plants
Obtains the capacity to swiftly focus on project specifics and then shift perspective to the broader strategy
Manage challenges that can only be solved with input from multiple cross-functional teams
Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management applications
Capable of upholding communication that is effective, clear, and consistent
Holds world-class leadership and interpersonal skills to drive team development. Passionate to create motivated teams through coaching and mentoring
