SPONSORSHIP SALES MANAGER:

 

Our client, Eastern States Exposition has presented the highest caliber of varied entertainment, agriculture, and recreation to the people of the Northeast US for more than a century, hosting 120 shows and events annually, plus The Big E, currently the 7th largest fair in North America.

We are seeking a Sponsorship Sales Manager, in the ESE Sales Department, a full-time/exempt position.

The right person for this job is talented at building relationships and communicating the value of becoming a financial supporter of the Eastern States Exposition, a cornerstone of entertainment, culture and economy of New England. We seek someone who is a strong team member, as well as self-starting independent worker. To succeed in sales, one must be unafraid to make your case, overcome objections, handle rejection, and reach for success.

Position Summary

· A motivated and exceptional individual that possesses the following skills and characteristics and can assume the following responsibilities:

· Approximately 75% of time for this role is primary lead for driving revenue and building relationships with new and current Big E Fair sponsors. This position is heavily focused on prospecting new relationships for large scale sponsors of the Big E Fair. This position will also be secondary contact assisting Event and Sponsorship Activation Coordinator with securing and maintaining non-fair sponsorships.

· Approximately 25% of time for this role is to assist the growth of year-round sponsors for the Eastern States Exposition including soliciting Hooplandia sponsors.

· During the Big E and Hooplandia the roles of Sponsorship Coordinator could expand.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Discover new and contemporary Big E Fair and Hooplandia title sponsors, building sponsors, and exhibit sponsors to fulfill needs of the Fair.
  • Develop and work with sponsors and partners on all needs before, during and after the Fair and Hooplandia. Including strategic placement, negotiation, execution, etc.
  • Present dynamic post-Fair fulfillment reporting that captures the value of a Big E sponsorship.
  • Assist Sales Innovation Coordinator on development of strategic outreach to prospective partners.
  • Coordinate and develop agenda for weekly Sponsorship Coordinator Meetings, with relevant staff attending.
  • Assist in management of Hooplandia Event Coordinator.
  • Assist Director of Sales in developing relationships with local colleges for business and internships.
  • Assist Director of Sales in developing relationships with community engaged organizations.
  • Participate as a member of the Food and Retail Advisory teams, weekly meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to create dynamic promotional materials with measurable analytics to develop proposals for prospective new sponsors.
  • Communicate with other departments to streamline the sponsorship process, this includes Marketing, Sales, Agriculture, Operations and Finance departments.
  • Coordination of sponsor visibility on Big E and Eastern States Exposition website with Marketing Department.
  • Responsibility for contract development and leveraging Big E and Hooplandia assets with new and current sponsors.
  • Billing and procurement of payment from Big E and Hooplandia sponsors.

§ Provide weekend coverage one to two weekends per month, serving as the ESE point of contact (Event Coordinator) for show promoters.

 

Additional Fairtime Responsibilities

  • Ensure the delivery of agreed sponsor benefits and credentials successfully.
  • Assist Director of Sales in areas as needed, for example:
    • Placement of non-food exhibitors.
    • Respond to exhibitor inquiries and questions.
    • Work with Operations Department to assist exhibitors.
  • Assist Director of Sales to maximize on and off-site relationships with current and prospective sponsors, prior to and during Big E Fair and Hooplandia.
  • Participate as a member of the Food and Retail Advisory teams, weekly meetings.
  • Other administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
  • Must be willing to travel intermittently.
  • Experience in sales or a customer-facing role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable with making outbound phone calls and face to face meetings with clients and prospective clients.

§ Strong computer/software skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, contract management systems, etc.

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in the fair industry and/or event marketing field a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights and some overnight travel.
  • Ability to walk, sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Some night and weekend work, including extended hours during all days of the annual fair

Compensation

Annual salary of $88,500 to $100,000, depending on experience and expertise, plus merit bonus, based on successful results.
