The mission of the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) is to promote language learning and cultural understanding by serving as a trusted source for research, resources, and policy analysis. Through its work, CAL seeks solutions to issues involving language and culture as they relate to access and equity in education and society around the globe. CAL is located in Washington, D.C. For this position, the employee may choose to work in their preferred combination of in person at the D.C. office in a hoteling capacity, or remotely (up to 100% remote). CAL does not compensate or reimburse candidates for relocation expenses. This position is not open to candidates residing in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, California, or the U.S. Territories. Job Description *Full-time/ Contract through June 30, 2027 The Technical Project Manager, WCAG Compliance will manage the remediation of internet-based English language proficiency assessments to bring them into compliance with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) requirements. The Technical Project Manager, WCAG Compliance will work with the Test Assembly Specialist, WCAG Compliance, other technical specialists at CAL, client representatives, and representatives of third-party vendors to identify solutions to bring existing QTI (Question and Test Interoperability) packages into WCAG compliance. The Technical Project Manager, WCAG Compliance will work together with CAL colleagues to establish timelines, project plans, and workload batches to ensure efficient progress towards remediation goals. Once solutions are identified, the Technical Project Manager, WCAG Compliance will track the required remediation steps for each QTI package, including maintaining bug tracking software, documenting solutions, and conducting quality control reviews. The Technical Project Manager, WCAG Compliance will work with other members of the project team to determine how solutions for WCAG remediation can be implemented in new test item development to ensure consistency in the QTI code.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Evaluate code in QTI packages for issues related to WCAG compliance and investigate potential solutions. Troubleshoot solutions in conjunction with the client and third-party vendors. Manage timelines, project plans, and work batches to ensure timely completion of QTI remediation. Manage internal and external workflows and maintain bug tracking software. Update QTI packages for compliance to WCAG. Perform HTML markup. Perform CSS styling. Perform XML markup. Document program code and create templates and other resources for ongoing development that complies with WCAG. Interface with Test Development team and production team as needed. Supervise the Test Assembly Specialist, WCAG Compliance. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: MA/MS EdTech, Computer Science, or other relevant field preferred. BA/BS in EdTech, Computer Science, or other relevant field required. PMP preferred. 3-5 years relevant experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Expertise with software development project management. Expertise with maintaining and using bug tracking systems. Expertise programming HTML, XML, and CSS. Expertise with QTI 2.x and 3.x. Expertise developing web content that adheres to WCAG requirements. Excellent verbal and written skills. Additional Information COMPENSATION: Minimum Salary: $75,000; Benefits eligible Full-time/ Contract through June 30, 2027
