Salary: $16.20 Hourly Location : Chicago, IL Job Type: Student Employment - FWS Required Job Number: 01062 Department: Student Media SE Opening Date: 08/01/2024 Summary The Copy Editors are in charge of proof reading the entire paper before publication. They will also assist Xavierite staff members improve the writing style of their article before publication. Essential Duties & Responsibilities In charge of proof reading all articles that will run in The Xavierite publication and on the official website following the AP style. Proof reads rough draft tear sheets of the newspaper and magazine Assists staffers with writing and style of article when necessary Informs Editor-in-Chief when stories are not turned in on time Attend general staff meetings Maintain weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office (5 hours per week). Checks and edits content for accuracy of style throughout the entire paper and E-magazine Checks for libelous and litigious statements. Qualifications - MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY - FEDERAL WORK STUDY REQUIRED Preference in journalism, communication, or English.
